But we're here to inform you that our forum search is now POWERED BY GOOGLE!!! Oh yeah you heard right, capital GOOGLE! Feel free to dance around the room. No longer will you have to wade through countless posts just to find the Pancakes or Waffles poll or the What does your name mean? thread. Just google it! Right from the comfort your own Alteil forum browser window.

Here's a link to try it out if anyone hasn't stopped reading and already gone to check it out.

No need for thanks, it's just how we roll.

School Spirits Contest Starts 9/28/09

We know everyone's gone back to school and sometimes it's a little hard to make time for fun, so here's a little motivation: our School Spirits Contest, Great Spirits that is!  Here's the deal, from Monday the 28th to Monday the 4th, play at least 5 of those 7 days to show your spirit and earn four Great Spirits!

Playing will constitute at least one game that goes 10 or more turns, win or lose.  The prize will be one Will o' the Wisp, one Shade, one Salamander and one Sylph.  They will all be the Beginner's version, so that means no recycle value, but you'll also get 3 Point Cards (which gives the paying players something to look forward to).

This prize is a must have for any beginning or free player!  Great Spirits are strong level 1's that are easily splash-able into any sphere. You don't want to miss it!

New Strategy Section, call for strategy articles
Written by Logress

Okay, we have a new Strategy section which is tentatively called "Modifying Card Files."  Thrilling, I know.  If anyone has a better name, let 'er rip. In here I'll attempt to teach a basic or maybe advanced strategy by showing "before" and "after" screengrabs of a File and discussing how the changes made it stronger:

The article is right here, under the Strategy section.

Simple right?  Not only is this a good learning tool... with PICTURES which everyone loves (so you can get the idea without even reading my long-winded discussion), but the title of the article will include the basic file type, so a new user looking for ideas or trying to get the basics of deck building (or who just wants an idea of what a playable card file of X type looks like) can just go through articles and skim them, looking at card file after card file.

Unfortunately, it will only serve that purpose if there is LOTS of them, and now there is... well, one.  Therefore, I'm putting a call out to anyone who would like to put one together.  To submit, you'll need two screengrabs, (a before and after,) and some text.  Look at my example article first.  As you can see, I show a Gowen Rush file off, but I use it to discuss a basic point of File construction, LP.  It's probably not too useful to show "how to make an awesome Wizard Kingdom deck more awesome" as the focus of your article, but maybe "balancing the number of level 1, 2, 3 and 4 units in your file" could be the point, and the example would be a Wizard Kingdom deck, which would become more awesome as a consequence.  My example is also pretty basic, but a wide range of topics could be used.

If you send us an article (and at least 2 screengrabs), and we post it, you'll get 10 Point Cards, a credit on our site, and the knowledge you made Lavato a better place.

Pirate Day File Winner
Written by Logress

Okay, I've gone through all the entries in the pirate day file. Dub Rido has one big issue, how do you win when you're restoring your enemy's units every turn?  Well, the obvious answer is to destroy the enemy's Cemetery. Since it's the obvious answer and the point was to do something different than the "average" (if such a thing is possible) Dub Rido deck, I mostly had to look for files that did something else. One exception was Beast Hunter files, but after some deliberation I decided against them because I felt it was just too complicated to incorporate our pirate friend into them (trust me... I've tried).

But still, I couldn't narrow it down so I went with two winners...
