Last weekend marked one of our first "meta" tournaments, where players were encouraged to bring their absolute best Files for a face off. For some reason that didn't happen, and there was instead a variety of balanced ready-for anything types an old skool big Refess and a few experimental Files. I'm not sure if that is a failure or success exactly, but the tournament was a lot of fun so it can't be a bad thing.  Special thanks to Noobwiz who ran a tight ship for his time and patience!

Ok, it's Thursday already?  Someone needs sleep... Well, tomorrow we've got a Seasonal Card lottery coming your way.  All the great seasonal cards with alternate art, including Guardian and Renally, will be available, including 8 cards never available in the seasonal lottery, Roaming Predator Asuet, Ruby Carbuncle, Assassin, Rapidly Flying Apprentice, Dance Macabe Lelein, Fallen Moon Child Miffyre, Alraune, and Mermaid Soldier.  Assassin and the Apprentice are pretty low rarity and are must-have Soul Skills, so it's a good chance!  The seasonal lottery includes a card pool of only the cards that have alternate, seasonal art available, so your chances of getting specific cards are much higher!

So it's that time of year again. When young mens fancy turns to thoughts of ogres and serpents and unrealistically clothed female warriors. That's right Valentines day! In celebration of this most sacred of Hallmark holidays we here at Alteil thought it would be fun to imagine what the valentines that the people/creatures of Lavato give each other look like. As such we are having a contest! You, our faithful and talented Iczers shall make Alteil Valentines. They could be Iczer to iczer, Iczer to normal human, Iczer to Lavato Citzen, etc. Whatever you want. Details after the break:

Brave soul Noobwiz has decided to host a community tournament this weekend.  Everything is allowed, so if you've got a File you'd like to show off, now's the time.  The Tournament will be held on Feb 6th at 12 EST, and there are extensive details listed here.

When setting up field presence in Alteil, one of the most basic principles upon which many files operate is that you should have a strong front line. Usually, these front line cards are units with a RNG stat of 1. This way, both front lines tend to beat on each other, and the rest of the cards on the field are for support of some kind. What happens if we take away all those short-range cards...?

The new Card Flip Theater Caption Contest is a little late to get started but here it is. You have a week to get the funny to us. Forest of Hate and Lycanthrope [Hanuman] are your challenge this week.

Here's a basic rundown of the rules:

• Create a conversation/dialogue between the two chosen cards and make it funny.
• Please keep the comic to a single frame, although multiple frames will be accepted, the goal is to create comedy with as little as possible.
• Do not modify the cards by adding things or drawing over them. You can stretch, re-size, skew, and rotate for purposes of this contest though.
• 4 point cards will be awarded to the winner on Monday at noon, a week from today.
