It was only a one day trip but boy did it kick my butt. Friday night
was prep, prep and more prep. Everyone crashed at my place (the driver)
so a timely arrival at the site would be insured. First and foremost we
had to secure the wagon to the roof of the car. With 3 people and
tools, there was really no other place to put it, so 1 hour later all
was locked, roped and bungied down. http://www.flickr.com/photos/27295792@N04/3483864282/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/27295792@N04/3483864302/ All
tools where loaded up and in the morning we jumped in and headed off
into the mystical coal lands of Pennsylvania. the first site was so so,
not so great Devonian Ocean fauna (been to better sites for the same
thing). It was site #2 that was the real focus of our journey. St.
Clair is world renowned for its white Pyrophyilite Fern fossils. The
Ferns show up as a delicate white layer on the black shale. This
was my first time here, so I generally don't bring back anything
amazing, mostly just get a handle on how to work the area. I'll
certainly be back for another shot (preferably when its not 90 out) It
was hot and rocks work like an oven.... BLACK rocks are even better!
The site is a hike from the road and carrying rocks sucks, so wagons
are a life saver. Our good buddy and yours Arakis happened to be in the
area so we hooked up for dinner afterward (it is a little known fact of
Physics that GMs attract other GMs). If the site had not been so
crowded that day, he would have joined us in the dig (68 Paleo Society
members attended) . We only took a few pics because, well we were
filthy. So enjoy.. they have captions :D http://www.flickr.com/photos/27295792@N04/?saved=1 |

The weather is nice and that means it's time to dust of the sledge hammer!
That's right kiddos! Time to dust of the sledge, sharpen the
chisels and load up the crow bar... its time for a fossil trip!!!! This
weekend Logress, myself and our friend Eric (a fantastic stand up
comedian and commercial actor) are jumping in the Mini and heading to
lovely Pennsylvania for some well extinct flora and fauna. This trip
required me to get a wagon to haul stuff back from the site, so I gots
me a 1200LB capacity garden wagon that will travel atop my little
chariot (sucks for anyone driving behind me if it goes flying). I'll
make sure to take lots of ridiculous pics and share them on Monday (ten
bucks says I throw out my back and end up a sad cripple a la last
summer). lets see if i can haul back a slab worthy of my new toy! Can I get a 1200lb slab in a mini?? |

Yes, look at the little darlings!

So
I am all about saving animals and proper treatment... but sea kittens?
Gimmie a break! I've adopted and rescued countless animals and will
continue to do so. I preach proper pet ownership and treatment of all
animals (I'm talking to you whaling boats). But this is..
ridiculous. It's one thing to be an activist... another to don the
crazy pants and try to "re-brand" fish. It's stupid. I don't eat
endangered or rare fish because I'm not a thoughtless fool. But don't
embarrass me, or my creeds with such garbage. Educate people properly. GGG |

Saturday morning 10:30!!!
Everyone watch Huntik this Saturday!!! It's the first
episode I fully wrote (we'll wrote from the outline). Granted, the
episode has been altered cut and messed with from what I originally put
in, but the catty girl banter is all me (as well at the more
interesting transitions from scene to scene). It was fun to see how the
Korean animation studio mangled my extremely clear description of a
tessellation puzzle into the things you see in the first scene. My
storyboard instructions where kept somewhat intact.. but things get
lost in translation :P http://www.huntik.com/ This episode is about King Basilisk =D GGG |

It's been a rough few weeks...
So it's been a while since I graced the world with my love and sharing so let's spread the love. early
February marked the beginning of our convention season and it was
brutal start. The 10 hour days standing on cement after a fall and
winter of rest was brutal. I literally limped home each night fearing
the continuation of this pain the next morning. On teh plus side I did
get a the great folks from the Jedi Training academy to pop by the
booth for a group shot. These fine folks travel conventions teach the
devoted how to attack and fence like a proper Jedi or Sith master! I
hope the rest of the convention year is slightly less painful. http://www.flickr.com/photos/alteil/3307727670/ Ain't de neet! They made my day a little brighter. So
my Stress level has been high... very high; So high that i managed this
past Sunday to release my stress... in my eye. I look up to see a blood
vessel had popped in my eye and i have to tell you it is rather gross
looking. I doesn't hurt and is generally harmless, but... ick. folks
find a way to relax.. cause this Isn't worth it. http://www.flickr.com/photos/alteil/3306897341/ it's
gotten worse as the bloody mess has trickled down into view so that I
look like a pissed off daffy duck. Doctor said it'll fade in a week or
so. till then I'm get the "oh that poor lady" look from people. : / Lastly I saw this today.. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH http://blogs.discovery.com/news_animal/2009/02/see-a-fish-with-a-transparent-head.html WHY in the name of all things evolved does this horrid beast exist! nasty! wretched! thing! BLAHHGGG!! nightmares... only nightmares exist in the deep. GGG |

Like any proper office, mine's filled with guns...
Office wars are not new, and I am not even up to date on the
latest weapons of mass distraction. BUT what I lack in high end cubical
(not that I'm in one) warheads, I make up for in volume. I like to be
prepared for the random sneak attack and unlike Mr. Tony Stark I don't
prefer the weapon you fire once.... I prefer the one that I can
fire in rapid succession ; ) This is my old stand by. It holds twelve
darts and can fire off at least 3 rounds on full pump pressure. For the
longest time it was the highest dart count gun I could find... this of
course would change. Logress and the Red both have one... so I was
forced to upgrade. http://www.flickr.com/photos/alteil/3216709156/ I
needed more firepower and so the logical path was to find a larger
capacity gun. This took a few years but I found my new love. I was so
enraptured with this gun so much I bought 2. While this video only
shows you one, you get the idea of what I can unleash: 2X guns + 2X20
dart canisters = 3.5 second dart Tsunami. I feel with a few
modifications I could have a truly dangerous tool with which I can rule
any office I choose (it's like might of the Lion in Nerf form).
Lastly I have my "less violent" guns. These are more for show. http://www.flickr.com/photos/alteil/3215856017/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/alteil/3216709132/ My
Covenant pistols are sweet and make awesome sounds (even the long
hold/big blast noise). Now they are not the Perfect replicas you can
get for hundreds of dollars, but they look pretty good and were a
welcomed gift from a good friend (thanks Alex!). Someday I might
splurge on a Elite sword... but for the time being I'll enjoy being a
grunt. GGG |

TO much to show and tell so let me focus on...
So I have lots I want to share, but I like to keep things focused, so
I'll keep my arsenal photos for another day. Today is movie day. I love
to share the films I find engrossing with others. As posted in the
forum at one point, I let my affection for Clive Barker's work be
known. I love a good flick, I don't go to see much anymore (I hate
being in a theater with the masses). So my movie watching is mostly
held at home. There are some things I will trudge out to see, and this
film will certainly be one of them. Shane Acker's "9" has me abuzz with
glee. His original Short was brilliant and growing that idea into a
full movie is only natural. I have some reservations, one as my uncle
would say "cuteing it up" is a true concern. But I'll hold out hope.
The trail on the main site is just to dark so check this link, you
won't be disappointed. This is the HD version, but there are of course
many options to see it.
http://www.apple.com/trailers/focus_features/9/hd/ Here is a link to his original short that won more awards then I care to list :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=964QHmjLqa0 The
other film I wish to share with you does not have the vision or grace
of 9, but certainly should be held in some sort of regard (not sure
which). What's one to say about a Squid that wants to become a pro
wrestler? http://www.gomorrahy.com/images/calamari_wrestler.wmv GGG |
